About the Doctors

Herbert F. Bravo, MD

Dr. Herbert F. Bravo, MD is our Pediatrician In-Chief. Dr. Bravo moved to the Washington Metro Area in 1977 where his parents, two sisters, three nephews and one niece also reside. He has a 11 year old son who enjoys reading, all sports, ice cream and video games. Dr. Bravo became board certified in Pediatrics in 1992 and began practicing Pediatrics in Virginia. He has received numerous awards for his work as a Pediatric Hospitalist and Emergency Pediatrician.

In 1995 he started and directed a 24-hour/7 day Pediatric Hospitalist Group in Northern Virginia. He also has served as Pediatric Medical Director of a large multi-state Emergency Physicians Group, Vice-Chairman and Chairman Elect of Pediatrics Department at the hospital level. In addition, he was the physician and management leader of the team that brought about and managed the first Pediatric Emergency Room in a community hospital in Northern Virginia.

Our office at Dulles Town Center is lead by Lisa, RN. She is a native of Virginia and shares her time with her husband and two children. She is an avid runner and recently completed the Marine Marathon. She has many years of experience in nursing and has been dedicated to after-hours pediatric care for the past 7 years.

James C. Young, MD

Dr. Jim Young grew up in the Kanawha River Valley of West Virginia. He was the 1983 Valedictorian for Valley High School in Smithers, WV. He then attended Marshall University in Huntington, WV where he graduated Magna cum Laude with a BS in Biology and Chemistry in 1986. He was awarded a scholarship by the U. S. Navy and attended WVSOM where he earned his doctorate in 1993.

After active duty, he completed a surgery internship at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, TX. While training in El Paso, he met his wife the former Maria L. Alvarez. Dr. Young then moved to Virginia Beach when he was selected as the senior medical officer for Naval Special Warfare Group IV (SEALs). He served as the physician supervisor for two other doctors & 16 SEAL paramedics. He was also an Advance Cardiac Life Support instructor & Advance Trauma Life support instructor for the Defense Medical Readiness Training. During this time, he completed the Navy's Tropical Medicine Coarse and performed humanitarian medical missions in Latin America. After working with the SEALs for 3 years, Dr. Young was accepted for a Family Practice residency which he completed in 1999.

Dr. Young became Board Certified in December 1999. He then screened for a position as the Chief Medical Officer for a remote Navy Branch Medical Clinic in rural southwest England. After serving in Cornwall for three years, Dr. Young applied for the Navy's Preventive & Aerospace Medicine Residency and was selected for one of four spots. During his second residency Dr. Young earned a MPH in Environmental Medicine & Toxicology from Harvard University in Boston, MA. He completed his Preventative Medicine & Aerospace Medicine residency in 2005 and was selected as the senior medical officer for the USS George Washington. As the senior medical officer, he ran a 47 bed facility with a 3 bed ICU and two operating rooms that supported over 6000 people. His staff included a surgeon, another family practitioner, a physician assistant, a nurse anesthetist, a critical care nurse, a physical therapist, and a clinical psychologist. He was then asked to come to Washington, DC to the Bureau of Medicine & Surgery to serve as the Deputy for Aerospace Medicine.
